Who’s Knocking At Your Door? It’s Tabitha, sharing her secrets to door knocking for fun and profit!

Here is what Tabitha shared with us.

I’m going to give you my secret to door knocking and I guarantee it works. It’s two fold.
1. I hand write a card introducing myself.
2. I include a jar gripper with my name and number on it.
Then I mail these items 3 days before I plan to go visit people.

Now here’s the secret sauce…
When they open the door say something like “I mailed you some information and I just wanted to stop by and say I am a real person that can really help… did you get my card with the jar gripper?
99% of the time the prospect laughs and tells you a story about how much he needed a new one and now he has one.

Then ask them if they noticed your name and number was on it. They will laugh and say they didn’t even pay attention. Then you laugh and say “man I spent all that time and I bet you even threw away the hand written card I made for you!”

And at that moment, where they realize you put a lot of effort into them and they just trashed you without a thought, that’s the moment you get in the door. You made them laugh. You’ve given them a gift. You’ve had an emotional connection. And you went out of your way to introduce yourself. 4 touches, they say.

I still like to door knock my zip code. I think it creates humility in our career and reminds us of all the people that need us. Anyway, I thought this might benefit someone.

PS – I definitely make 6 figures. It’s not the need to get more clients. I just enjoy it. It’s not something I do a lot. I have a small zip code. I do 1 mass mailing for t65 in the entire year and I take a week off regular work and DK them all. And then I don’t do it again until next year. I always get a bunch of Medicare Supplement sales, a few life, and at least 1 or 2 annuities from it. But more importantly it grounds me. It reminds me that even if my business fell apart and I had to start all over again, I could. Even if it was just one door at a time.

Thank you Tabitha for this wonderful story of inspiration!
